Food Pantry
The Eastridge Emergency Food Pantry's mission is to provide
emergency food to families in crisis in Lincoln.

It is operated as a local outreach program by eight churches in southeast Lincoln. They are: Aldersgate and Christ United Methodist, Eastridge, Good Shepherd and Heritage Presbyterian, First Evangelical Covenant, Unitarian, and Vine Congregational Churches.
2009 was a very busy year for the Pantry. We had some difficulty keeping food on hand at times due to short supplies at the Food Bank. In spite of this we handled more than 175,000 pounds of food in 2009, which was an increase of more than 50% over 2008.
This is by far the largest amount of groceries in any year in the 26 year history of the Eastridge Food Pantry.
This huge task is in the capable hands of Ken Stading with assistance from John Hicks, Gary Northouse, Lee Zentic and others plus all of the weekly volunteers from our participating Churches. Give them a word of appreciation for their efforts.
To accomplish all of this our Pantry spent $12,192 during 2009.
This is about $4,600. more than we received during the year. At this rate we will run out of funds before the end of this year. Recognizing the urgent need for food for the families in crisis of Lincoln, we need to make a major effort to increase our funding.
