The Eastridge Emergency Food Pantry's mission is to provide
emergency food to families in crisis in Lincoln.
It is operated as a local outreach program by churches in southeast Lincoln. The following churches provided financial support to the Pantry during 2013: Eastridge Presbyterian, Christ United Methodist, Aldersgate United Methodist, Good Shepherd Presbyterian, Vine Congregational, Heritage Presbyterian, and the Unitarian Church.
On November 3, Diane Harris and Patty Niemann presented a music program for the congregation as a means to raise awareness and needs of the pantry. It was very successful as over $3,000 was collected by a free will offering during the event. Eastmont Towers also had an event to raise money for our Pantry which brought in $389.
In 2013 the Pantry obtained 99,447 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Lincoln at a cost of $10,860. Much of this food was distributed through the Good Neighbor Community Center. Approximately 1,040 orders were filled out of the Eastridge Pantry location. People pick up their orders on Tuesday evenings from 7-8 pm and on Friday afternoons from 1-2 pm.
