Friendship Home

Formed in 1978, Friendship Home is Lincoln's specialized emergency and transitional shelter program for battered women and their children.  For women in the community who are exploring the possibility of leaving violent homes, and for those who have left and are now homeless, Friendship Home offers a comprehensive array of services designed to address both domestic violence and homelessness. This comprehensive approach makes Friendship Home unique in Lincoln. In 2008 Friendship Home served over 1,398 women and children through its various programs and services. Services include; safe, confidential emergency and transitional shelter; safety planning; case management; women's advocacy; children's advocacy; substance abuse and mental health services for women in shelter; pre and post-shelter supportive services; crisis counseling; support groups for women and children; information and referral services; basic needs provision.

Friendship Home esteems its partnership with Eastridge Presbyterian Church. Not only does Eastridge serve as a drop site for in-kind items for the women and children staying in the shelters, but members of the church have supported Friendship Home both as a congregation and individually. Eastridge members and employees have coordinated speeches, participated in events, helped expand services, and remembered the women and children whenever the opportunity arises.
